We got up at 5:00 a.m. to drive 2 hours up and down the mountains over bumpy, winding, scary roads to a little school in a very rural area in the town of Guaimaca. The mini van we rode in was modified to hold 15 passengers. I didn't have room to sit straight because the seats were so close together. Not one of them had a seat belt. We would see motorcycles drive by carrying multiple children without helmets weaving in and out of crazy heavy traffic. We passed a pretty awful accident on the way. I could never drive around here. There aren't any traffic laws that I can tell. |
