John Chater's Lodge at the Lake

On the way to San Pedro Sula, we stopped for a few hours at Chater's Lodge.  John Chater is a friend of our group and has been a strong supporter of our mission.  He was originally from Boston but married a Honduran woman many years ago and has lived here for a long time.  We ate our lunch here and it was amazing.  This is the "stove" our meal was cooked on.

This is our cook.  He is putting freshly caught Tilapia into the oil that has been heated up over this wood fire.

The view from the patio where we ate our lunch

More of the beautiful view.

While we were waiting for our lunch to cook we wondered around and enjoyed the flowers and scenery.

This is one of the designs made by a local artist.  One of the few things that I have bought myself.

The flowers here are amazing.

Tilapia is done.  These are fried plantains.  They were yummy!

This is Marta.  She is John Chater's lovely wife.  She is holding a tabasco pepper grown on a bush outside her front door.

These are the fried bananas.

Met Veronica.  She has the run of the place and is quite the talker!

Finally, dinner is served.  It was a little freaky having your dinner looking at you, but I got over it when I realized how delicious it was.  I had never had fried plantain before...so good!  Marta also served fresh pineapple juice. Did I say how yummy the meal was?!
